Huawei The Editors’ Choice Awards 2021 App winners revealed

AppGallery 2021 Editors Choice App Awards

Huawei, the world’s leading technology company, has announced the winners of its annual awards on HUAWEI Mobile Services Europe – the Editors’ Choice Awards 2021. The prestigious awards recognize the best apps and games on AppGallery across 10 diverse categories.

For those who don’t know, AppGallery is a smart and innovative ecosystem that allows developers to create unique experiences for consumers. Huawei’s unique HMS Core allows apps to be integrated across different devices, delivering more convenience and a smoother experience – all of which is a part of Huawei’s wider “1+8+N” strategy.

HMS Core is a mobile service framework that gives app developers access to a wide variety of service frameworks such as Huawei ID, payments, notifications, and other basic services. The equivalent market challenger is GMS Core by Google (Google Mobile Services) whereas HMS Core runs on Androids Open Source Project to support Android Apps.

Huawei has claimed that it has more than 650 million active users across the globe and that App Gallery itself is available in more than 170 countries. with well-known brands such as Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, Deezer, Amazon, Amazon Prime Videos, Booking.com, and more found on App Gallery. Unfortunately, however, household apps such as Instagram, Twitter are still absent.

With AppGallery, Huawei’s vision is to make it an open, innovative app distribution platform that is accessible to consumers, and at the same time, strictly protects users’ privacy and security while providing them with a unique and smart experience. As one of the top three app marketplaces globally, AppGallery offers a wide variety of global and local apps across 18 categories, including navigation and transport, news, social media and more.

In a year like no other which has seen consumers turn to smartphones and apps for everything from light-hearted entertainment to personalized health and wellness support, AppGallery has seen incredible growth with a staggering 43.5M+ monthly active users in Europe – up 35% year-on-year.

Voted by Huawei’s expert country editor teams across Europe, the Editors’ Choice Awards 2021 winners have been critiqued against user experience and overall quality. In addition to these qualities, innovation has also been highly commended this year, alongside apps and content which have provided strong societal contributions – two areas that have become increasingly vital for consumers.

Overall in 2020, there were over 142.9 billion app and game downloads compared to 64.4 billion in 2015 showing staggering growth and reliance on smartphone and tablet apps. Businesses should be looking at these statistics and thinking about how they can apply an app to their business model. Mobile apps allow businesses to build stronger relationships with their customers and offer directly to consumers unique sales offers.

“At Huawei, we know that great creations don’t just come from inspiration, but dedication and hard work too. So, we are immensely proud to share with the world the best of AppGallery and Themes, as a token of gratitude to all those relentless creators who shared their light in this challenging year,” Dr. Jaime Gonzalo, Vice President of HUAWEI Mobile Services Europe, said of the award winners. “We love to see extraordinary apps and content that can make a huge impact on people’s lives, whether it’s supporting green initiatives, helping others improve their health, or feed our inner culture self through gorgeous artistic designs. A huge congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to welcoming your talent again next year!”
