Smart homes: Intuitive companies are changing how we live

Smart homes are no longer the houses of tomorrow. With amazing technology and built-in IoT gadgets, a luxury, technological home is available today.

Smart homes are rising sharply in popularity. With the likes of Google and Amazon leading the way in smart devices, IoT products are becoming more and more integrated into our daily lives. We now have refrigerators, cars, lights and just about anything you can think of controlled by IoT; it’s not just our homes that are becoming kitted out with the latest technology either. Businesses are taking on IoT at a rapid rate to increase efficiency, too.

Are built-in smart homes really the future though or is this just a passing fad?

Control4

Control4 is a global networking brand that specialises in built-in smart homes.

“Control4 delivers power and performance on one system that coordinates the technology in your house into complete, brilliant experiences—interactions that fit your lifestyle and are easy for your family to enjoy. With one touch, dim the lights, stream high-resolution music, turn up the heat, lock the doors and arm the security system. Check in on cameras or see who’s ringing the doorbell—from wherever you are. It’s a smarter living experience that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.”

Control4

Control4 claim to “play nicely” with others. This means that their tech can be integrated with other brands such as Bose, LG and Samsung, meaning that you won’t have to kit out the entire house with new products just to satisfy the control system. With remotes, keypads and touchscreens that can control your home from the touch of an icon, Control4 are all about ease of use.

Control4’s products are extremely simple to operate and are perfect for a variety of homes.

Loxone

The Loxone system is one of the most intelligent on the market.

“The Loxone Smart Home combines all the components of your home into one central system, the ‘brain’ of which is the Miniserver. It gives you simple, unparalleled command of your home. The Miniserver perfectly meets the needs of the occupants of a smart home, performing tasks according to schedules and taking into account such things as the season, weather and occupancy. A Loxone Smart Home adapts to suit your lifestyle. The system will know to do something before you’ve even thought about doing it – it’s always one step ahead. The Loxone Smart Home has the highest IQ in its league by far.”

Loxone

One of Loxone’s most exciting comes from touch surfaces. These are switches and dials built into furniture that control the lighting, music or the extractor fan just from their touch; they can be built into kitchen surfaces, bathroom tiles or wooden tables, too.

Loxone offer brochures online of their products along with expert advice on products from their site.

Savant

Savant is a company making a lot of noise in the Smart Homes industry. Claiming there’s a difference between a smart home and a Savant home, the company offer luxury IoT solutions.

“Savant offers all the usual functions like controlling your lighting, climate, entertainment but also offers solutions for even the most unique homes, with controls for amenities such as pools, home theatres, and more.”

Savant

Catering for both Amazon and Google technology, Savant provides a responsive app and keypads that look great in the home. With a variety of products to choose from, you can integrate Savant technology with your whole home for a cohesive feel.

Devolo

Devolo is a happy medium if you want a smart home but without all of the expensive and complicated installations.

“You can easily design your smart home according to your individual needs without any previous knowledge. The home automation functions on the building block principle: select the devices you would like to use in your living spaces from the available Devolo Home Control devices. The heart of your smart home is the Devolo Home Control Central Unit, which you can simply plug into any electrical socket. Subsequently, program all devices used via the Central Unit.”

Devolo
