TCS is now UK’s #1 software and IT services company

Tata Consultancy Services’ UK Revenue of £2.63bn in 2020 Placed it at the Top in the UK Market, According to TechMarketView.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT service, consulting and business solutions organisation, has been ranked number one by revenue among the Top 30 Suppliers of Software and IT Services to the UK Market by TechMarketView.

The report comprises a detailed analysis of the UK revenues of over 200 publicly quoted and privately held companies. TCS has moved up from last year’s second position. The company performed very well in the revenue rankings by sub-category and topping the Applications Operations category, and ranking #3 in Consulting and Solutions.

According to the report, TCS has used the pandemic to re-energise its proposition and positioning into the broader marketplace. It says that the core role given to innovation continues to be central to TCS’ identity and positioning within the SITS market, which has worked out well for TCS over the last couple of years. The report highlights that a key part of TCS’ response to Covid-19 has been its accelerated transition to what it calls Secure Borderless Workspaces.

Marc Hardwick, Research Director, TechMarketView, said, “2020 saw TCS become the largest Software and IT Services provider in the UK topping TechMarketView’s ranking for the first time, a real testament to how resilient and innovative the business has become as it continues to grow and nurture an enviable UK client base.”

“Our deep contextual knowledge, customer centricity, investments in intellectual property and innovative and impactful technology solutions make us the preferred growth and digital transformation partner to leading British businesses,” said Amit Kapur, Country Head, TCS UK and Ireland. “The UK and Ireland represent one of the biggest growth markets for TCS, and we are pleased to now be the number one IT service provider in the region. This achievement encourages us to continue investing in the region’s economy, innovation, the technology sector, and in developing workforce skills.”

TCS is helping some of the UK’s largest corporations look beyond the products and services they sell, to the purpose behind their existence, defining the blueprint for their transformation journey and layering this approach with resilience and adaptability. It has expanded and deepened relationships in the past year, deploying effective solutions and winning some of its largest deals to date.

TCS has been systematically investing in research and innovation, taking up promising themes in each industry, and leveraging its domain knowledge to build innovative solutions that are proactively showcased to customers. In addition, the company has been partnering with customers through the discovery, definition, refinement, and delivery phases of innovation at the TCS PacePorts™, its co-innovation centres located across the world.

Its customer-centricity and differentiated offerings have powered strong revenue growth and market share gains in recent years. As a result, TCS has been ranked the #1 IT services provider for customer satisfaction in surveys by Whitelane Research for six consecutive years. To support its growth, it has added more than 7,000 employees, including 1,800 trainees over the last five years, making it among the top UK recruiters of IT services talent.

TCS currently employs over 18,000 people in 30 locations around the country and intends to recruit an additional 1,500 employees in 2021. Its workforce is diverse, with 54 nationalities represented. Women make up 28 per cent of employees, much higher than the 17 per cent average in the UK IT sector. TCS has upskilled more than 90 per cent of its UK staff in the last two years, reflecting its commitment to nurturing local IT talent. It has been named the #1 Top Employer in the UK by the Top Employers Institute and among the Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work for in the UK.

TCS is also investing in the tech professionals of the future, equipping young people with the skills and passion for pursuing STEM subjects and careers in the industry. TCS and its employees work closely with charities and social enterprises to drive outreach and bridge the knowledge gap. Since its launch in 2013, TCS’ IT Futures programme has reached over 300,000 UK students.
